Ingo Hampe
I am a photographer and mentor of mindful photography for people in a pivotal moment in their life who are seeking for clarity about who they are, the things the care about and matter the most to them and in which the direction the want to move next.
photography as a mindfulness practice
Hello, I’m Ingo Hampe, a self‑taught photographer, mindful observer, and lifelong student of the inner and outer world. My journey with the camera began in Hannover when I received my first camera at fourteen. Even then, I sensed that photography meant something different to me. It wasn’t about capturing moments – it was about learning to how to see, and allowing the image reveal itself rather than pushing it into existence.
Today I describe my practice as conscious photography: a contemplative approach rooted in mindfulness, shaped by Zen and Wabi‑Sabi, and nourished by my own ongoing journey of personal growth and shadow work.
mindfulness for photography
For me, in photography the process of making a photo is a meditative way of being:
the act of slowing down, noticing, a gentle willingness to feel deeply.
I’m drawn to quiet, transitional moments — the subtle shift before something happens, the breath before a truth becomes visible. These are the thresholds where human essence reveals itself. My work seeks an intensity that is not dramatic or loud, but in‑tention: a state of being fully present, open, and alive.
In this presence, photographs become traces of inner landscapes, records of emotional truth that often go unnoticed. Conscious photography is also my way of getting to know myself: to feel more deeply, to notice what arises, to witness who I am becoming. In every image there is the outer landscape and my inner world – what I see and what resonates to it within me.
Through my images, my writing, and my workshops, I would line to invite you into a similar space of calm and where the camera becomes a path toward presence, clarity, and wholeness.
If this resonates with you, I would like to invite you to join me on my journey:
